Mitchell
The Kernel basketball team saw action last night against Sioux Falls Washington. It was tough one on the road for the girls early in a heavy halftime deficit of nearly 20 points. They were unable to make the comeback and fell to the Lady Warriors, 64-48. The Lady Kernels fall to 13-4 overall. The boys had a back-and-forth match of the highest order as the lead changed 18 times in the game. Though another strong fourth quarter effort from the Kernels propelled them to a 67-59 win at home. Markus Talley led with 24 points and nine rebounds. That makes nine straight wins for the boys and they improve to 15-2 overall.
The girls varsity regional tournament is next for Mitchell. It will go down tomorrow at 3pm at Aberdeen Central high school.
Dakota Wesleyan
Via a post on the DWU sports Instagram account, it has been announced that the “Branson Turfs Up Tournament for Tiger softball in Branson, MO has been cancelled. It is unclear if they will find other games to play or if they will have the weekend off from games.
Tiger track & field athletes Ethan Watson & Abbigail Magnuson have qualified for the Indoor Track & Field Nationals. They will compete in Gainesville, FL on Feb. 27-Mar. 1 and represent DWU.
The Tigers basketball team is down to their final two games of the regular season. Tonight, they’ll have their final road game as each team travels to Waldorf in Forest City, IA at the Denny Jerome Court. The No. 16 ranked women will begin at 6pm and the men will play at 7:45pm.
South Dakota State
The Jackrabbit men’s basketball team is is in action tonight at home in the First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, SD. The men will host the North Dakota State Bison with tipoff set for 7pm.
NBA
The NBA continues regular season action tonight. The game will be available on NBA League Pass. It’ll be a single game on the schedule as the Charlotte Hornets at the Los Angeles Lakers at 9pm.
