Mitchell
The Kernel baseball team returns to the field today for game action. They will face the O’Gorman Knights in a doubleheader at 5pm at home in Mitchell.
The varsity track & field teams for the Kernels will host another meet this season at Joe Quintal Field. They will host a Varsity Triangular against a pair of schools today with things getting rolling at 4pm.
The Kernel softball teams will play once again today. Each team will face Yankton at home. JV will play first at 4pm and varsity will start at 5:30pm.
The Lady Kernels golf team returns to the course today. They will hit the road and head on over to face Pierre at the Pierre Hills Golf Course in a Varsity Invitational at 10am this morning.
Dakota Wesleyan
The Tiger baseball team is the No. 8 seed in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament that will begin tomorrow and go through May 5. They will face the No. 1 seed Concordia Bulldogs, who will be one of the host sites, at their field in Seward, NE at 6pm tomorrow.
The Tiger softball team is the No. 4 seed in the GPAC softball tournament that begins tomorrow and goes through May 3. They will face the No. 5 seed Concordia Bulldogs at Northwestern University in Orange City, Iowa and start at 2pm tomorrow afternoon.
The Tiger women’s golf team continues on with GPAC Championship play this morning in Cairo, NE. Still playing at Centura Hills for day two action. After day one, the Tigers are tied atop the standings in first with a team score of 644 and a trio of golfers in the Top 15. Sitting tied for 12th is senior Kaylee Johnson with a total score of 163. Junior Ashton Austreim is tied for ninth place with a total score of 161 and alone in first is freshman Allison Meyerink with a total score of 155.
MLB
The Minnesota Twins start off their new series with a win over the Cleveland Guardians, 11-1. They’ve now won six of their last seven games. They’ll play them again on the road tonight at 5:10pm.
NBA
The NBA playoffs continued again last night with a pair of games, both Game 4’s. It started with the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers at the No. 8 seed Miami Heat. The Cavaliers dominated, winning by 55 and sending the heat packing with a final score of 138-83. Cleveland sweeps the series in four games and advances to the conference semifinals. Ending the night was the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets at the No. 7 seed Golden State Warriors. Another close game and another win for the Warriors, 109-106. Golden State now leads the series 3-1 over Houston.
