Mitchell
The Marlins hockey boys varsity will be on the road tomorrow and begin their weekend of games. They’ll be competing in the Buffalo Tournament in Rogers, MN tomorrow through Saturday.
The Kernel basketball teams were at home last night in the World’s Only Corn Palace for a doubleheader against Huron. It was a win for the girls as they shook a slow start and emerged victorious, 51-39. They were led by Londyn Hajek who finished with 14 points. For the boys, it was another low scoring affair. They were unable to find their footing and fell to the Tigers, 47-38. Colton Smith led Mitchell with a 17-point & 10-rebound double-double. Next, both teams face the Brookings Bobcats at home this Friday.
Another tough outing for the Mitchell boys wrestling team. They only captured a pair of falls in their matchup with West Central. Sean Foote defeated Carter Evans in the 215lb class and Rocky Clark took down Nate Struck in the 285lb class, with each of them earning six points. Mitchell lost the dual, 61-12.
Dakota Wesleyan
A dominant showing for the Tiger men’s wrestling team. All competitors but one came away with a win. Winners include Tukker Boe in the 125lb class, Zach Zitek in the 141lb class, Zach Kolbe in the 149lb class, Talan Ball in the 157lb class, Tyson Johnson in the 165lb class, Kaleb Bigelow in the 174lb class, Temuujin Mendbileg in the 184lb class, Colton Hink in the 197lb class and Cole Hennings in the heavyweight class. The Tigers won the dual over Briar Cliff, 33-10.
Both Tiger basketball teams are in Sioux City, Iowa to face the Morningside Mustangs tonight. The No. 17 ranked women’s basketball team will get it started beginning at 6pm in the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center and the men will play afterwards at 7:45pm.
NBA
For tonight’s NBA games, there’s a ton of them and just two on National TV. Those two games are both on ESPN and are high-powered matchups. It’s the New York Knicks at the Philadelphia 76ers at 6pm and the Golden State Warriors at the Minnesota Timberwolves at 8:30pm. Looking ahead to tomorrow as well, it’s a small slate of games with just five on the schedule. It starts with the Indiana Pacers at the Detroit Pistons and the Phoenix Suns at the Washington Wizards both at 6pm. Then at 6:30pm on TNT/TruTV/MAX it’s the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Oklahoma City Thunder. At 9pm you’ll have the Los Angeles Clippers at the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets at the Sacramento Kings on TNT/TruTV/MAX.
