Mitchell Volleyball

The No. 5 Kernel volleyball team took on the Huron Tigers last night in Mitchell. Mitchell took care of business in their matchup with the Tigers and won in straight sets, 3-0. They have now won nine of their last 10 games. Sitting now at 15-5 overall. They’ll play again tomorrow against Sioux Falls Washington here in Mitchell at 6:30pm.

DWU Basketball

The Tiger basketball teams began their season last night. The No. 9 ranked women’s basketball team competed in a game against Drake University, a Division I school, and they fell, 77-57. For the men, they hosted Grand View in Mitchell, and it was a wire-to-wire game. Though it was the new-look Tigers who got the win, 89-84. Randy Rosenquist led the way with 22 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists.

DWU Volleyball

The (RV) Tiger volleyball team will play again today after their ranked win on Tuesday. They’ll travel to face the Dordt Defenders in Sioux City, Iowa at 7:30pm in De Witt Gymnasium.

DWU Soccer

The Tiger soccer teams get back to the field tonight. They’ll be here in Mitchell at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex taking on the Morningside Mustangs. Men play first at 5pm and the women play at 7:30pm.

DWU Football

Quarterback Jed Jensen has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week following the game against the Waldorf Warriors on Saturday. He went 20-for-28 (71.4%) in completions, threw for 228 yards passing and had five touchdown passes (tied a career-high) in the 33-14 win over Waldorf. Jenson is the first QB to be named POTW since 2018 when Shaye Slaughter set multiple school records against Presentation College.

NFL

Thursday Night Football on Prime Video is in full swing tomorrow night to begin week 9. You’ll have the Baltimore Ravens (2-5) at the Miami Dolphins (2-6) at Hard Rock Stadium at 7:15pm. Two-time MVP Lamar Jackson will make his return to the field tomorrow for Baltimore.

MLB

The World Series Game 4 took place last night and this one ended much quicker than Game 3. It was the No. 1 seed Toronto Blue Jays who took the win over the No. 3 seed Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-2. Even with Shohei Ohtani on the mound, the Dodgers couldn’t get it done. Game 5 will be tonight at Dodger Stadium at 7pm on FOX.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves get back to the court tonight. They’ll be at home and host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight in the Target Center at 8:30pm on ESPN.
