The Kernel basketball teams hit the road to Brandon, SD to face Brandon Valley and it was a tough night. The Lady Kernels started things off and had a strong opening quarter, but the Lady Lynx put their foot on the gas and didn’t let off. They defeated the Lady Kernels, 60-34. The Lady Kernels fall to 13-6 overall and 6-3 in Eastern South Dakota Conference play. The boys had a similar start to their game with a very strong first quarter, limiting the Lynx to just four points while they posted 17. The rest of the way, they couldn’t buy a basket. The Lynx get their revenge and defeat the Kernels, 42-36. The boys fall to 16-3 overall and 6-3 in the ESD conference. Next, the Kernels will have Senior Night in the World’s Only Corn Palace when they host O’Gorman this Friday.
Dakota Wesleyan
The Tiger basketball teams begin the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament tonight. The No. 16 ranked Tiger women will enter as the two seed and will face the seven seed Doane Tigers at home in the World’s Only Corn Palace at 7pm. The men will enter as the five seed in the tournament and will travel to Sioux City, Iowa to face the four seed Morningside Mustangs at 7pm in the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center.
South Dakota State
The Jackrabbit men’s and women’s basketball teams will return to the court tomorrow. The women will remain home in Brookings, SD at the First Bank & Trust Arena to face Denver at 7pm. The men will hit the road to face Oral Roberts in Tulsa, OK at 7pm.
NBA
The NBA will have two Nationally televised games tonight with the first being the Philadelphia 76ers at the New York Knicks at 6pm on ESPN, followed by the San Antonio Spurs at the Houston Rockets on ESPN at 8:30pm. The Minnesota Timberwolves return to action tomorrow when they visit the Los Angeles Lakers at 9:30pm on NBATV.
