Mitchell

The Kernel basketball teams each took on Sioux Falls Jefferson last night. It was a successful night for both of the Kernel basketball teams as each team came away victorious. The girls were on the road in a tight matchup all night, but were able to get the win, 57-50. They improved to 11-2 overall and have won their seventh straight game. The boys were at home, and it was a 40-point second half that helped them to a 66-49 win. Leading all scorers was Colton Smith with 22 points and Gavin Hinker added a season-high 20 points. The Kernel boys also improved to 11-2 overall and have won five straight games. Next, each team will be at home taking on Sturgis Brown this Friday.

The Kernel wrestling teams return to action tomorrow evening. The boys and girls varsity will be here in Mitchell at the high school main gym taking on Pierre. Competition will begin at 6pm for the girls and 7pm for the boys.

Today, Mitchell will host a National Letter of Intent Signing Day event at 3:20pm in the MHS Cafeteria. As Reese Amick is planning to attend the University of Jamestown to play hockey.

Dakota Wesleyan

The Tiger basketball teams are on the road today against the Briar Cliff Chargers in Sioux City, Iowa. Games will be played in the Newman Flanagan Center with your No. 16 ranked women playing the No. 5 ranked Chargers at 6 & the men starting at 7:45pm.

NBA

The NBA is loaded with games tonight, but only two are on National TV. It starts with three games at 6pm, as the Milwaukee Bucks are at the Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers are at the Detroit Pistons and the San Antonio Spurs visit the Atlanta Hawks on ESPN. Followed by three games at 6:30pm as the Washington Wizards are at the Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat are at the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Memphis Grizzlies visit the Toronto Raptors. The lone 7pm game will be the Chicago Bulls at the Minnesota Timberwolves. Next is the Golden State Warriors at the Utah Jazz and the New Orleans Pelicans at the Denver Nuggets at 8pm. Ending the night you’ll have Phoenix Suns at the Oklahoma City Thunder at 8:30pm and the Orlando Magic at the Sacramento Kings at 9pm.
