The Mitchell Kernel boys will begin State Tournament games this weekend. It starts tomorrow when the 4 seed Kernels take on the 5 seed Huron Tigers at 1:45pm MT (2:45pm CT) in Rapid City, SD. All games will be played at Summit Arena at The Monument.

Tiger softball’s senior McKinnely Mull has been named the NAIA & Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Week. This is her first national award off the heels of a strong week where she had a hitting percentage of .565 across six games, 15 RBI’s, stole four bases, scored nine runs, while hitting four home runs, three triples and a double. Mull and the Tigers have started the season 21-6 overall this season, which is the program’s best start in over a decade. Their next game will be against the College of Saint Mary (NE) in a doubleheader at 3pm Friday.
The Tiger baseball team took on the Dakota State Trojans yesterday afternoon at Drake Field. The Tigers were held scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning and tried to make a late-game surge, but the Trojans ended up taking the win, 10-6. DWU baseball falls to 4-17 overall to begin the season. They’ll get back to action on Friday when they face Hastings in a doubleheader beginning at Noon at Drake Field in Mitchell.
The men’s golf team competed at The Verhille Invitational at Old Kinderhook Golf Resort over the last two days. As a team, Tiger golf finished in 14th place overall. They finished 77 over par as a team, scoring 42 over par on day one and 35 over par on day two.
NBA
The Minnesota Timberwolves will host the New Orleans Pelicans at 7pm tonight in Minneapolis, MN. The NBA will have two National TV games to air on ESPN. You’ll have the Detroit Pistons at the Miami Heat at 6:30pm and the Denver Nuggets at the Los Angeles Lakers at 9pm.
