Mitchell
The Mitchell varsity track & field team competed in a Varsity Invitational yesterday at Dakota Wesleyan. They had numerous athletes finish in the Top 3. The 4x800m boys relay team of Hunter Patton, Floyd Korzan, Ben Gerlach & Alexier Padilla placed first. Keyana Kelley took first place in the girls 60m hurdles, Londyn Schroeder got third in the girls 1600m run, Padilla got second in the boys 200m dash and Patton took first in the boys 800m dash. For the boys 200m Carter Lee finished third and Korzan took first in the boys 3000m run. The team of Lainee Forst, Kelley, Addie Siemsen and Avrie London finished first in the girls 4×400 relay, and the boys team of Miguel Vizcarra, Samari Wright, Patton and Padilla took second in the 4×400 relay. The girls high jump saw a second-place finish for Makenzie Hetland. Marek Antaya finished third in the boys pole vault and Aubrey Gelderman took second in the girls pole vault. Logan Bessler managed third in the boys shot put and Taylor DeJong got second in girls shot put. Triple jump for the girls saw Sophie Bahmuller end in second place for Mitchell.

Tiger softball’s McKinnely Mull set several new records for DWU earlier this week. She now holds the record for most runs scored in a career (177 and counting), most doubles in a season (22 and counting), most RBI’s in a season (103 and counting) and most hits in a career (176 and counting). The Tigers, as a team, also broke the school record for all-time bases stolen in a season (68 and counting). DWU will be back on the field this afternoon for doubleheader games that have been moved from Mitchell to now be played at Dordt in Sioux City, Iowa. They will take on the Dordt Defenders in Great Plains Athletic Conference play beginning at 3 & 5pm.

The Minnesota Twins took on the White Sox again last night in search of win number one in Chicago. They did indeed claim their first win as they defeated the White Sox, 8-3. They’ll play them again today at 1:10pm.
NBA
The Minnesota Timberwolves faced the Denver Nuggets last night on the road. The Timberwolves were able to hold off a strong fourth quarter push and two overtime periods against the Nuggets and won, 140-139. Next, they’ll play on the road at the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow.
