PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Governor Kristi Noem made it a complete sweep over the weekend.  She joined Senators Mike Rounds, John Thune and Congressman Dusty Johnson in announcing their opposition to proposed Constitutional Amendment G in South Dakota’s ballots.

Congressman Johnson took it a step further, saying he plans to contribute to the effort to defeat Amendment G. Senator Rounds says he’s considering that.  So far, Senator Thune and the Governor haven’t revealed their plans.

Currently, abortions are allowed in South Dakota only in the case of the imminent threat to the life of the mother.  Women who are victims of incest, rape or who have a medical condition like an ectopic pregnancy can’t seek medical assistance until their lives are at risk.

Amendment G would liberalize South Dakota’s abortion law.
