MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) – State prison offender Latoya Shangreaux is back in custody after being arrested in the Rapid City area on Nov. 22, 2025. Authorities report she is currently being held in the Pennington County Jail.

Shangreaux had failed to return to the Pierre Minimum Center following her work release shift on Nov. 7. Under South Dakota law, failing to return to custody following an authorized assignment is considered second-degree escape. The offense is a Class 5 felony and carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.
