MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Members of the state’s Project Prison Reset task force say two possible new locations for South Dakota’s new men’s prison are promising. One is near Box Elder, and another is in northeast Sioux Falls. The Box Elder site sits along Highway 14-16, not far from I-90. The Sioux Falls option covers 137 acres between North Bahnson Avenue and I-229. State Democratic Senator Jamie Smith calls the Sioux Falls location especially intriguing, saying it checks a lot of boxes.
