MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Project Prison Reset Task Force met Tuesday in Pierre as it continues to search for solutions to overcrowding and deteriorating conditions in South Dakota men’s  prisons. A consulting firm presented new recommendations, suggesting the state’s long-term prison needs could cost up to $2 billion, which is twice what officials were estimating. Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead, who serves on the task force, says he’s not aware of anyone eager to spend that much on prisons. The task force also heard from communities located near several proposed sites for a new men’s facility. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
