RAPID CITY, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The duties of a United States Senator are many and varied.  One of the duties of Senator Mike Rounds is service on the US Senate’s Armed Services Committee.  Recently, Senator Rounds participated in a committee hearing where Air Force General C.Q. Brown, the Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, was invited to testify.

Senator rounds asked Chairman Brown if the initial purchase of 100 B21 Raiders would be sufficient.  The General responded that was a subject he spent quite a bit of time investigating in his old job as the Chief of the Air Force.  General Brown indicated no current plans to expand the acquisition beyond the current 100 B21s but did say needs and threats change.

The B21 Raider will be based at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City and is expected to bring an influx of around 17,000 additional personnel to man and support this deployment of the B21 Raider tactical aircraft.
