MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) It’s that time of year when the circus comes back to town. The big event will hit the Corn Palace on Monday, April 29 for a show at 7pm. Four more shows will follow, two on Tuesday and two on Wednesday. The Tuesday and Wednesday performances will feature a matinee at 4:30pm and an evening performance at 7:15pm. Reserved seats can be purchased for $18 each with general admission going for $12 a person. The local Shriners will coordinate with the schools in town to ensure elementary students get a free ticket.
Circus’ have been under pressure from animal rights and other groups to stop having wild animals as a part of their performance. There will be no big cats with the circus this year. However, there will be pony, elephant and camel rides as well as other animals featured in this year’s circus. In addition, there will be phenomenal human acts like the kind featured in Las Vegas.
