South Dakota Senator John Thune cruised to a re-election victory in Tuesday’s election with 70 percent of the vote.
Representative Dusty Johnson also won easily with 77 percent of the vote.
Governor Kristi Noem won re-election with 64 percent of the vote.
In other statewide races, Rich Sattgast won the State Auditor’s race, Josh Haeder was re-elected as State Treasurer, Monae Johnson won the Secretary Of State race, Brock Greenfield won the Commissioner Of School And Public Lands race, and Chris Nelson was re-elected to the Public Utilities Commission.
Constitutional Amendment D, which would expand Medicaid eligibility in the state, passed with 56 percent of the vote, while Initiated Measure 27, which would have legalized marijuana, failed with 53 percent voting no.
Chris Nebelsick was elected to the Davison County Commission.
Other winners on Tuesday included Kyle Schoenfish in the District 19 race for State Senator, Erin Tobin in the District 21 race for State Senator, Mary Jo Bauder in the Bon Homme County Commission race, Sharman Swanson in the Brule County Commission race, and Rex Zastrow in the Buffalo County Commission race.
Timothy Drey was elected Gregory County Sheriff.
Byrain Boes and Jeffrey Johnson were elected in the Gregory County Commission race.
Steven Strande was elected Kingsbury County Sheriff.
Kelli Wollmann and Corey Johnke were elected to the Lake County Commission.
Kalli Houchin was elected Lyman County Auditor. Steve Manger won the sheriff’s race in Lyman County. Beau Johnson, Ryan Huffman, and Zane Reis won in the Lyman County Commission race.
Joe Bechen and Tom Reisch won the Miner County Commission race.
Michelle Lovejoy was elected Tripp Register of Deeds. Mike Novotny was elected to the Tripp County Commission.
Sioux Falls voters voted against the construction of new slaughterhouses within city limits by a 52-48 percent vote.
