Mitchell Kernels
Time now for the Kernel cross-country teams to return to action. It is time for their state meet this weekend. They will travel and compete at the Hart Ranch Camping Resort in Black Hills, South Dakota. They are set to begin at Noon this Saturday.
Another chance for Kernel volleyball to end their losing streak will come tomorrow. As they welcome Tea Area to town for a game in Mitchell. All the Kernel volleyball teams will be competing against the Titans. JV begins at 4:30pm, then the sophomores at 5:30pm and the varsity round things out with their first serve beginning at 7pm.
It’s the final game this season for the Kernel football team. They’ll take on the new No. 1 team in 11AA, the Yankton Bucks, in Yankton tonight. The pregame will be at 6:40pm and kickoff is at 7pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
Each Tiger soccer team competed last night in Mitchell. The women’s team held their own in their matchup. The game ended up being a 1-1 tie. The men rounded out action last night after the women’s game. The men were in a highly competitive game but came out on top in the end. They defeated Briar Cliff, 4-3.
The Tiger volleyball team had themselves a strong performance in Mitchell last night. They came away with their third straight win and all have been sweeps in straight sets, 3-0. It’s their first three-game win streak since August and first of the year where all the victories were in straight sets.
Both the men’s and women’s cross-country teams are back at it this weekend. They’ll get set to compete in the Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic in Ashland, NE. The women will get started at 10am and the men will get rolling at 10:45am.
Tiger hoops begin this Saturday afternoon! New head coach Kevin Williamson and the men’s basketball team will travel to Storm Lake, Iowa to face the Buena Vista Beavers. Catch all the play-by-play on KOOL 98.3 with the pregame scheduled for 3:15pm and tipoff will be at 3:30pm. Also, the NAIA Top 25 polls released yesterday for both the men and the women. The men did not make the Top 25 poll or receive votes, but three other Great Plains Athletic Conference teams did. Those include Dordt (RV), Northwestern (15) and Concordia (11). The women’s basketball team for DWU was ranked No. 9 in the nation after receiving 357 votes and making it to the Round of 16 this past season. They are one of five teams in the GPAC to make it into the Top 25. Others being Briar Cliff (23), Northwestern (19), Concordia (5) and Dordt (1).
Another gameday, another new ranked opponent for the Tigers. That’s what life is like in the GPAC. They’ll take on the No. 9 ranked Northwestern Red Raiders and look to rebound from last week’s loss. It’s a matchup on the road in Orange City, Iowa on Saturday with the pregame beginning at 12:35pm and kickoff at 1pm.

World Series action gets underway tomorrow night in Los Angeles. It will be the No. 1 seed Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the No. 1 seed New York Yankees for Game 1. The game will begin at 7:08pm on FOX.
NFL
Thursday Night Football action in the NFL tonight. As the Minnesota Vikings take on the Los Angeles Rams. The Vikings will look for a bounce back game against the Rams. The Rams will get some additional help tonight as Cooper Kupp returns to the field. Kickoff is set for 7:15pm on Prime Video.
