A December trial date was set for a Mitchell woman charged in the death of a 5-year old boy last summer. A hearing in the case of Julia Carter was held this week in Davison County Court. The court had been waiting on a report before proceeding with the case. Carter is accused of kicking the boy several times in the stomach and stomping on his abdomen. The boy died after being taken to the hospital. Several deadlines were set including a jury questionnaire completion date, a witness list exchange date, and a deadline for a change of plea. A hearing was set for October 29th. The trial is set to begin on December 9th with jury selection.
