An anonymous threat made toward the SDSU campus yesterday morning ended up being a hoax and was not substantiated. At around 10:30 AM, an anonymous phone call was received at SDSU threatening to carry out an attack on campus. Additional phone calls making nonspecific threats were also received around the same time.

Shortly after 11 a.m., university police sent out a message to students letting them know about the threat. In a release, SDSU Chief of Police Tim Heaton said that after further investigation by the University Police Department, the South Dakota DCI, and other law enforcement agencies, evidence showed the threat originated from outside of the state of South Dakota. SDSU says they have increased university police presence on campus and will continue to closely monitor any and all active threats.

No classes were cancelled, and university operations continued as normal throughout the day.
