Mitchell Kernels
The volleyball teams will all be competing today and will be on the road again. They’ll head to Sioux Falls to take on Sioux Falls Jefferson at Sioux Falls Jefferson High School. JV will begin at 4:30pm, followed by the sophomores at 5:30pm and then varsity at 7pm. After this game, the Kernels will have a week off before returning to action on the 22nd.
Dakota Wesleyan
The men’s golf team is in action again today. They’re competing in the Whistling Straights Classic at Taylor University. Set to tee off once again this morning at 8am. The women will action be competing again too. They’ll be playing in the Battle of the Dance again at Hastings College today. Also set to tee off at 8am. For the men, Drew Norberg leads the way after day one at four over par and tied for ninth. The next closest Tiger is Dakota Munger with eight over par and tied for 25th. The men sit in 10th after the first day with a score of 42 over par. For the women, it’s Allison Meyerink pacing the Tigers with nine over par and tied for third. Followed by Ashton Austreim and Sara Sudenga with a score of 12 over par and tied for 12th. The Tiger women sit in second place as a team after day one trailing by just one stroke at 49 over par.
The volleyball team will be playing today as they look to end their five-game losing streak. They’ll be home for the next week and it’ll begin tonight against Valley City State when they host the Vikings in a non-conference matchup. The Tigers will be in the Christen Family Athletic Center with first serve set for 7pm.
MLB
Playoff action continued last night with a Game 1 and Game 2. It was the No. 6 seed New York Mets and No. 1 seed Los Angeles Dodgers who faced off first as the Dodgers came in with a 1-0 series lead. The Mets refuse to go down without a fight. They have now tied the series 1-1 after a nice 7-3 victory in Game 2. Next was the first game between the No. 2 seed Cleveland Guardians and the No. 1 seed New York Yankees. The Yankees set the tone for the series with a 5-3 win over the Guardians. Tomorrow these two teams will line it up for Game 2 at 6:38pm on TBS/TruTV.
WNBA
Game 3 is set to be played tomorrow as the series flips to Minnesota for a pivotal matchup. The No. 1 seed New York Liberty and No. 2 seed Minnesota Lynx are tied up 1-1 through the first two. The game will begin at 7pm on ESPN.
NBA
One week from today the NBA will be back in full swing! It will start with a pair of games on TNT. Beginning with the New York Knicks on the road facing the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics. Followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road to take on the Los Angeles Lakers.
NFL
An interesting football game was on display last night between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. One with a pair of dinked field goals off the goalpost by the Jets’ Greg Zuerlein end up costing them a win at MetLife Stadium. Zuerlein went 2-for-4 and timely defense from Buffalo resulted in the Jets losing to the Bills, 23-20.
