Mitchell Kernels
Volleyball will have all teams playing today when they host the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles. First serve begins with the JV at 4:30pm, then the sophomores will play at 5:30pm and it’ll conclude with the varsity at 7pm at the Mitchell High School Main Gym.
Dakota Wesleyan
The Tiger soccer teams will be home tomorrow in Mitchell for the final time this season. They will be playing at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex against the Briar Cliff Chargers. It will be a doubleheader with the women kicking things off at 3pm and then the men will follow and play at 5:30pm.
Volleyball will remain at home for their next game tomorrow, which will be held in the Christen Family Athletic Center. They’ll be gunning for their first three-game win streak since back on August 31st. They will host the Waldorf Warriors in Mitchell at 7:30pm.
NBA
The NBA makes its return tonight with a doubleheader. It will be the defending 2024 NBA Champion Boston Celtics hosting the New York Knicks at 6:30pm. Followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road to face the Los Angeles Lakers at 9pm. Both games will be on TNT.
NFL
A pair of Monday Night Football games took place last night. First, it was the Baltimore Ravens on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lamar Jackson put on a show a Derrick Henry dominated. Henry posted 169 yards rushing and Jackson had as many touchdown passes as he did incompletions (5). The Ravens won it, 41-31. Followed by the Los Angeles Chargers traveling to face the Arizona Cardinals. This matchup was far less high powered and neither team eclipsed 20 points. It was a walk-off field goal by kicker Chad Ryland that propelled the Cardinals to victory. The Cardinals defeat the Chargers, 17-15.
MLB
Game 1 of the World Series is coming up this weekend and a new champion will be crowned. The No. 1 seed Los Angeles Dodgers will face the No. 1 seed New York Yankees in a star-studded matchup. The Dodgers will host games one and two, as well as six and seven if necessary. The Yankees will be hosts for games three and four, as well as five if necessary. The series is set to begin this Friday at 7:08pm on FOX.
