Two Alexandria men were injured in a two-vehicle crash about seven miles north of Alexandria on Thursday. Just after 8:15 AM, a Chevy Silverado pickup was traveling south on 421st Avenue. It crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Dodge Ram 1500 traveling north. 16-year old Aaron Smith of Alexandria was driving the Chevy. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. 21-year old John Waldner of Alexandria was driving the Dodge. He suffered serious non life-threatening injuries and was also taken to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Charges are pending against both drivers as an investigation continues.
