Two dead in multi-vehicle crash in McCook County on Wednesday morning

McCook County, S.D. (MITCHELL NOW) Two people died late Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in McCook County. The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates the 72-year old driver of a 1991 GMC pickup was headed westbound on SD Hwy 38 just after 11 AM when he collided with a 77-year old driver of an eastbound 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass in the westbound lane near mile post 331 one mile west of Salem.

The drivers of both vehicles were not wearing seatbelts and both sustained fatal injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
