MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) There are seven ballot measures on South Dakota’s Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot, one of which is Referred Law 21.

Two of the state’s largest agriculture organizations have taken opposing stances on the issue, with the South Dakota Corn Growers Association supporting the proposed law and the South Dakota Farmers Union opposing it.  Corn Growers Executive Director Danita Murray urges support for RL21.  Farmers Union President Doug Sombke says his group has been opposed from the start.

One thing Murray and Sombke agree on is that RL21 does not have any impact whatsoever on South Dakota’s eminent domain laws.  Another area of agreement between Murray and Sombke is that the subject is confusing for people on both sides.
