MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Governor Kristi Noem has announced the appointment of Scott Roetzel and Eric Kelderman to the 7th Circuit Court.

Scott Roetzel is an experienced prosecutor.  He was recognized as the 2014 South Dakota Prosecutor of the Year and worked extensively with the Pennington County State’s Attorney’s Office in Rapid City.  Roetzel was also an Assistant United States’ Attorney focusing on federal tort claims prior to joining the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office in 2017 where he has served until his current appointment to the bench.

Eric Kelderman is an Assistant US Attorney for the District of South Dakota and is a member of that office’s Appellate Division appearing regularly before the US Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.

Both men expressed their gratitude at their appointment as judges and their expressed their desire to be of service to the citizens of South Dakota.
