The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team was in Huron yesterday competing in a doubleheader. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team was facing a familiar foe in the Huron 16u baseball team. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team split a doubleheader vs the Huron earlier in the month winning the second game of the doubleheader 14 to 4 and losing game one 5 to 3. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team rallied late scoring 7 runs in the last four innings thanks to Gavin Jones two RBI single scoring two runs. He also finished the game going 3 for 5 at the plate.

Mitchell’s Kendan Skinner then followed suit with a RBI going 3 for 5 at the plate as well scoring a run. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team would score one more run to close out the Huron 16u baseball team by the final of 8 to 7. again, stormed back in game two of the doubleheader scoring one run in the top of the 3rd then another 4 more runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 5 apiece. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team 6 more runs in the last two innings to come from behind and win by the final of 11 to 5. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball teams Quinton Wilson picked up the win going 6 innings only allowing five runs on 6 hits while striking out 8. Carter Mc Cormick and Cannon Moller combined to drive in 5 RBI’s. The Mitchell 16u teener baseball team is off till next Monday when they battle Post 307 baseball team in a doubleheader at home starting at 3:00pm.

The Mitchell kernels girls’ basketball camps are taking place on July 9th and July 10th and are for girls in k-6th grades. Start time for k-2nd grades 1:00 p.m.-2 p.m. 3rd grades through 4th grades 10:45 a.m.- noon. 5th-6th grades 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. The Mitchell kernels girls’ basketball camp cost is $45 per player or $65 per family for 2 or more campers. The cost of the Mitchell kernels girls’ basketball camps includes a Camp T-shirt. Mitchell kernels girls’ basketball camps is at Mitchell High School and is run by the Mitchell High School girls basketball coaching staff and players.

The SDSCA announced Yesterday that three Hanson Beavers have made the Class B All-State Softball Honor Team. Congratulations pitcher Olivia Kayser- who pitched 81 innings and struck out 144 batters with a low era of 3.198. She also batted .487 at the plate, hit 2 home runs, and drove in a team high 23 runs. Also honored from Hanson was infielder Reese Marek who batted .561 at the plate, had 23 hits and 12 stolen bases while driving in 14 runs. And Cadence Jarding who batted .421 while scoring a team high 24 runs and finished the season with 11 stolen bases. So, congratulations to these three young ladies from Hanson on making the Class B All-State Softball Honor Team as announced by the SDSCA.

The 2024 DWU Football putt and shoot fundraiser is on Friday July 26th with a 10 a.m. Trap Shoot session at the Mitchell Gun Club. That will be followed by a 1:00 p.m. golf outing at Wild Oak Golf Course. The cost of the DWU Football shoot and putt fundraiser is $250 for one team =2 people. $100 for golf only with one participant or $400 for two teams. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners have now won four games in arow thanks to two big wins on Monday in a doubleheader in Harrisburg vs the Harrisburg 14u gold baseball team. In game one of the doubleheader they won by the final of 5 to 3. They also won game two of the doubleheader winning by the final of 14 to 4. The were back on the diamond yesterday in another doubleheader winning game one vs the Post 15 14u baseball team by the final of 8 to 7. they would also win game twos doubleheader winning by the final of 7 to 6.

There’s only one game in the Sunshine amateur baseball league tonight that features the 11-7 Dimock Emery Raptors traveling to the pond in Parkston to take on the 3-9 Parkston Mudcats. The Raptors are coming off a big win last Sunday night on our KOOL 98.3 FM amateur baseball game of the week beating the Parkston Devil Rays by the final of 12 to 9. The Raptors have won three games in a row while the Parkston Mudcats are looking to end a three-game losing streak. Tonight’s first pitch at the pond in Parkston is 7:00pm.

The DWU Women’s Elite Basketball Camp runs is on Thursday July 11TH and are for young girls’ basketball players who will learn basic to advanced technique that feature progressive drills that will improve an individual’s game so they will be more skilled at the high school level. The camp instructors are the DWU women’s basketball coaches and players. The girls’ basketball camps are designed for instruction and coaching in an all-girl setting and will be given in small groups to help campers master the skills that are covered. The DWU girls’ basketball camps are for girls entering the 9th grade through 12th grade. Check in time is at 9 a.m. Thursday’s schedule is 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Session two is 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Session three is 2:30 p.m.to 3:15 p.m. The DWU girls’ basketball camp is $75 per camper (T-shirt and a meal).
