SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The South Dakota Department of Health is confirming the state’s first case of West Nile Virus this season. It was detected in mosquito pools in Minnehaha County. Folks can take simple steps to protect themselves against the mosquito-borne virus, like applying repellent, wearing long sleeves, and removing standing water where mosquitoes breed.
