MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) – Mitchell will start the work week with sunshine and a high in the mid-80s Monday before several chances for showers and thunderstorms arrive Tuesday and Wednesday. Drier weather is expected to return for the latter part of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, Monday will be sunny with a high near 85 and south winds of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops late Monday night. Storm chances continue Tuesday morning and increase again Wednesday, when the chance of precipitation reaches 50%. Thursday and Friday are expected to be mostly sunny.

Mitchell Now’s local forecast also shows highs ranging from 78 to 85 degrees during the work week, with the greatest precipitation chances centered around the middle of the week.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 a.m. East-southeast wind around 5 mph, becoming south after midnight.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.
