Mitchell Approves Dock and Lift Storage Plan During Lake Project

Lake Mitchell residents now have a city-approved option for storing docks and boat lifts during the upcoming dredge project that could close the lake for nearly three years. The Park Board set a one-time $500 storage permit, allowing use of four designated city lots from this fall through spring 2028. Revenue will help fund the restoration, which includes a lake drawdown in 2025 and a two-year dredging starting in 2026.

Five Arrested in Child Exploitation Operation at Sturgis Rally

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced that five men were arrested in a child exploitation sting during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, working with federal, state, and local agencies from August 1–6, charged four suspects federally for attempting to meet a minor and one at the state level.
