
Mitchell High School will honor the Class of 2025 during its graduation ceremony this Sunday at 2 p.m. inside the historic Mitchell Corn Palace. The celebration will feature speeches by seniors Maxwell Hart and Ashlyn Reynolds, who were selected by their peers to represent the graduating class. School board members will be present to award diplomas as families, friends, and community members gather to celebrate this milestone achievement.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley is alerting residents to the reappearance of a widespread text message scam demanding fake toll road payments. Known as the “Toll Road Text Message Scam,” this phishing scheme tricks consumers into clicking a link and sending money under threat of fines.

Call to Freedom, a Sioux Falls-based nonprofit, addressed the Mitchell Lions Club this week to raise awareness about human trafficking in South Dakota. The organization has supported over 1,500 survivors statewide, including at least five in the Mitchell area.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced the sentencing of Danielle Degenstein (also known as Deegan-Steen), a former Department of Revenue employee, for failing to report a coworker’s fraud. Degenstein pleaded guilty to Misprision of a Felony—a misdemeanor charge—and received one year of unsupervised probation, a $500 fine, and court costs.

Over the weekend, a suspect broke into two apartments, stealing cash and two vehicles—only one of which has been recovered. Authorities reveal that over 80% of stolen cars were left unlocked with keys inside.
