Deinken, Steffensen Win Preliminary Awards at Miss South Dakota Competition; Additional Scholarships Announced

Miss Rapid City, Payton Steffensen, and Miss Brookings, Emily Deinken—both of Sioux Falls—earned preliminary awards at the Miss South Dakota competition Thursday night. Steffensen, a dancer and educator, received the $500 Health and Fitness Award. Deinken, a middle school music teacher and master’s student at Florida State University, won the $1,000 Talent Award for her performance of the Carmen Flute Fantasie from Habanera.
