A Sioux Falls woman, 22-year-old Jada Jones, is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly selling fentanyl to an undercover informant on two separate occasions last fall. According to police, the controlled buys took place at Jones’ apartment in September and October, with the informant wearing a wire and under law enforcement surveillance. Jones is now charged with drug distribution and possession.

South Dakota has formed the Maternal and Infant Health Task Force to combat the alarming rise in pregnancy-related deaths, which have more than doubled over the past decade. This statewide initiative unites healthcare providers, tribal leaders, parents, and state officials to improve maternal and infant health outcomes and support families across the state.

South Dakota’s Project Prison Reset Task Force is reassessing potential sites for a new state prison after plans for a Lincoln County facility were halted due to funding issues. With $51 million already invested, locations like Mitchell—offering strong infrastructure and cost transparency—are under consideration despite mixed public response.
