American Legion Baseball is set to return to Mitchell in summer 2026 after the Palace City Baseball Association was accepted into the South Dakota American Legion Baseball program to represent Post 18. The group says 2026 registration will reopen for players and families.

The Mitchell School District says longtime coach Deb Thill will retire at the end of the 2025-26 school year after 35 years leading Kernels athletics. Thill was the first volleyball coach at Mitchell High School and has been the program’s only head coach, the district said.
