Mt. Vernon outhit Menno 7-2 on the road last night, but had to hold on to beat the Mad Frogs 2-1 in amateur baseball Tuesday night.
The Mustangs got a great pitching performance from Briggs Havlik, who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning while striking out 14 Menno batters on the night. Koby Larson came on to save the game for Mt. Vernon with 5 strikeouts over 2 innings. The Mustangs are now 4-1 on the season with the Plankinton Gold Sox next up on their schedule on May 25th.
Elsewhere in amateur baseball Tuesday night…Dimock-Emery had no problem with Larchwood as they blew out the Diamonds 12-2. The Raptors improve to 3-1 this season and they’ve got Harrisburg next on their schedule, this coming Monday.
