Ethan/Parkston won 11 events on Thursday to win the region 5A track & field meet in Parkston.

Ethan/Parkston tallied 180 points on the day to take first place, 50 more points than second-place Madison, Mt. Vernon-Plankinton was third with 106 points, Wagner finished in fourth place with 86 points, while McCook Central-Montrose came in fifth place with 58 points.

Cole Prunty had a big day for Ethan/Parkston as he won four events, 100-meter and 200-meter dash, along with the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Two Ethan/Parkston relay teams came away with wins as well, including Sam Benson, Parker Hanselman, Cade Thuringer, and Kolter Kramer in the 4×200, along with Jaron Nesheim, Evan Bartelt, Gage Hohn, and Ethan Poore winning the 4×800 relay.

Another notable performance was Wagner’s Jayden Peters, who broke his own state record on the pole vault, going 16 feet – 2 inches. Wagner also won the 4×400 relay with the team of Simon Frier, Henry Hayward, Lael Young, and Toby Zephier, in addition to the sprint medley being won by Nolan Carda, Myles Kokes, Lael Young, and Simon Frier.
