Several area Class B baseball teams were in action Monday at the region tournament.
#4 seed Winner-Colome beat #5 seed Chamberlain/Kimball in the first round of region 4, then top-seed Platte-Geddes-Dakota Christian-White Lake-Corsica-Stickney held off Winner-Colome 2-1 in the region final to punch their ticket to the Class B state tournament.
In region 1, #7 seed Wagner fell to #2 seed Elk Point-Jefferson 12-2, while Vermillion beat Hanson 13-2. Vermillion and Elk Point-Jefferson had their region final game suspended by rain Monday night and will resume Tuesday. Meanwhile, Parkston held on to beat Bon homme 1-0 in the first round of region 1, then fell to Dakota Valley 6-0 in the region final.
Platte-Geddes-Dakota Christian-White Lake-Corsica-Stickney, Dakota Valley, Gregory, and the winner of Vermillion/Elk Point-Jefferson are all moving on to the Class B state tournament next Monday in Sioux Falls.
