A Mitchell taxi cab service has had its license revoked. The Mitchell City Council voted unanimously to revoke the license of Speedy Taxi after its owner, Dustin Feistner, was arrested on drug charges. Mitchell Mayor Bob Everson sent a letter to Feistner earlier this month stating that his alleged use of methamphetamine is an undue risk to public safety and that his license had been revoked.
At Monday’s Mitchell City Council meeting, Feistner denied the allegations and charges against him. He also denied being a risk to public safety, stating that his bond conditions require him to be tested for drugs twice every week. He offered to increase that number to daily if necessary to continue running his taxi. He also said that he was innocent until proven guilty and told the council that he had not ingested drugs nor had them on his person at the time of his arrest.
Mitchell City Attorney Justin Johnson told the council that their reason to revoke did not have to meet the same threshold of a criminal case. He added that they could assess the information provided, including an allegation that Feistner told detectives that he used meth daily, to reach their decision.
The council also told Feistner that they had received other complaints about Speedy Taxi over the past several months. Feistner can re-apply for his license again once his criminal proceedings are settled.
