A Dakota News Now reporter has been arrested for allegedly making a prank phone call using Governor Kristi Noem’s personal cell phone number. Austin Goss is accused of making the call to former South Dakota Republican Party Chair Dan Lederman on the evening of January 22nd. Goss was arrested today and was released on a personal recognizance bond. Lederman reported the prank call, which he described as “harassing”, to the South Dakota Highway Patrol. The website PrankDial was used to make it appear as though the call was coming from Noem’s cell phone. Noem earlier this year called for an investigation, saying her family’s personal information, including her cell phone number, had been leaked and that her personal number was being used to make prank phone calls. Goss is charged with making threatening, harassing, misleading contacts which is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year behind bars.
