The Mitchell City Council is expected to vote on Lake Mitchell’s future at tonight’s meeting, which begins at 6 PM at City Hall in downtown Mitchell. At a work session scheduled for 5:15 today, Barr Engineering of Omaha will make a presentation on the lake. Barr has been studying Lake Mitchell and has recommended dredging it and treating it. Tonight’s agenda item is action to approve a $25 million loan application for 30 years at 3.25 percent interest. Repayment of the loan plus interest and annual treatment of the lake are expected to cost $1.8 million each year.
