The City of Chamberlain, in collaboration with South Dakota Game Fish and Parks, Walleyes Unlimited, and the Chamberlain Explorers Club, is excited to announce the installation of a new handicap-accessible boat loading ramp. This innovative initiative aims to enhance accessibility and inclusivity for individuals with mobility challenges, granting them the freedom to embark on unforgettable boating experiences.
Located in the American Creek Marina parking area near the boat ramp, the newly constructed loading ramp represents a source of inspiration for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. Carefully designed with users’ needs in mind, the ramp features an adjustable mesh sling and lift, providing a safe and seamless loading and unloading process without the need for arduous transfers or external assistance.
Recognizing the importance of equal opportunities for all community members to engage in recreational activities, the City of Chamberlain has worked on this innovative project to foster inclusivity and encourage individuals with disabilities to enjoy all the outdoor activities that Chamberlain has to offer.

The partnership between the City of Chamberlain, South Dakota Game Fish and Parks, and the Chamberlain Explorers Club shows their shared dedication to creating accessible outdoor recreational facilities. This achievement marks the second project completed through this partnership, following the recent opening of the all-season fish cleaning station. This station, also ADA compliant, provides fishermen with a place to clean their catches throughout the year, just adding another reason for fishermen to come to Chamberlain.
