A new special election date regarding Lake Mitchell could be chosen at tonight’s Mitchell City Council meeting. The item is on tonight’s agenda. Last month, the council voted to hold the special election in June of 2024. However, the election may be pushed up to November. Also, the loan amount the city would be seeking for the Lake Mitchell project has been decreased by $3.5 million to $21.5 million. The decrease is being made possible by the $3.5 million drawdown structure being removed from the loan. The city would instead fund the drawdown by using cash reserves.
Tonight’s agenda also includes awarding the bid for the golf course improvements project, action to approve two new vehicle for hire licenses, and establishment of boundaries for a proposed Business Improvement District and setting terms for initial BID board members.
Tonight’s Mitchell City Council meeting is open to the public. It will be streamed online and televised locally. The agenda can be found here: https://mitchellsd.portal.civicclerk.com/event/1121/files.
