The 2024 Old Farmer’s Almanac is now available. One highlight of the almanac for many is the winter weather prediction. Associate Editor Tim Goodwin says we can expect a cold and snowy winter. “That’s probably not too much of a surprise for where you guys are,” Goodwin said. “When we put together our forecast, we’re basing them off of deviations from normal when it comes to temperature and precipitation. So when we says it’s going to be cold and snowy, it’s going to be colder than average and snowier than average.”
Goodwin says they predict our winter will begin in November. “It’s gonna start pretty early for you in November. You’re going to start to see some of those colder times mid to late November. It’s going to last through much of December and into early January. Especially as you get to Christmas, it’s going to be frigid and bitterly cold to end the year right up into early January.” He adds “you’ll see some snow at the end of November and mid to late December, there’ll be snow in the forecast pretty straight through for that.” He says snow will taper off until mid-January with snow falling all the way through April.
Goodwin says their forecast predictions are around 80 percent accurate.
