A groundbreaking for a new multi-seed processing facility in Davison County was held on Tuesday afternoon. The High Plains Processing plant will have the capacity to process 35 million bushels of soybeans annually while providing an estimated 85 full-time jobs and an annual payroll of around $5.5 million.
Governor Kristi Noem was on hand for the event. She talked about the importance of the ag industry in South Dakota and how this will be the second-largest project in the state’s history.
Over the next two years, High Plains Processing plans to invest more than $500 million into both Davison County and South Dakota. High Plains will co-own the facility with BP Products North America. Operation of the plant, located just south of Mitchell, is expected to begin in 2025.
