Armour – Helen Bigge, 98, went to her heavenly home Sunday, November 5 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral mass will be Wednesday, November 8 at 10:30 am, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.
Helen was born July 13, 1925 to John and Margaret (Eggers) Bigge on the family’s farm near Armour, SD. She grew up on the farm and attended country school near there through the 8th grade. She continued living on the farm with her parents and took care of her sister, Frances, who had polio. Through the years, Helen had many jobs including house cleaning, babysitting and working in the laundry for the nursing home. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Altar Society. She loved taking care of her Christmas Cactus, enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and helped out at the Senior Citizen Center. She enjoyed baking and will be remembered for her Rice Krispie bars and Haystacks.
Grateful for having shared her life are her sister, Mary Peters of White Lake, SD; 2 nieces, Kathy Kokesh of Wagner, SD and Mary (Darren) Meeks of Rapid City, SD; a nephew, Dale (Lori) Peters of White Lake; and many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Frances and Agnes, and 3 brothers, George, Lawrence and a brother in infancy.
