Mitchell’s Perkins Restaurant is a total loss following an overnight fire Wednesday morning. At 12:05 AM, Mitchell Fire received reports of smoke coming from the area of 1301 South Burr. Engine 3 was the first responding apparatus and reported smoke coming from the roof and eves. A second alarm was called for all Mitchell Fire personnel to respond. Crews made entry through a south door and were met with heavy fire conditions. A third alarm was called at this time and Ethan, Mt. Vernon, and Alexandria fire departments responded. Davison County Search and Rescue and the Salvation Army provided addition support for all firefighters. The fire took approximately two hours to contain, and the building is a total loss. No one was injured in the blaze. An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
