MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell Police Department, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies and emergency services, put on the first Bike Rodeo as a part of the First Friday’s event on Friday May 3, 2024. The Bike Rodeo was a bike safety event for children ages 3-10. There was an obstacle course and other activities for the kids. The first 75 children received a bike helmet and a swag bag filled with certificates for treats, as well as coloring books and stickers.
Patrolman Austin Vanhorn of the Mitchell Police Department spearheaded the event and says that the success of the first Bike Rodeo means that the event will come back next year.
