MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) “No Going Back” is Governor Noem’s latest book which was released on May 7th. The initial controversy involved a nearly two year old dog named Cricket that Noem shot for being rambunctious and untrainable. She thought the story would show a steely resolve and a willingness to face facts and make tough decisions. Instead, it caused many to find her heartless, others to judge her cruel and nearly everyone to question her judgment in telling the story in a book.
Now there are criticisms over factual errors in the book, namely whether or not Governor Noem met the reclusive North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. Her press people say it’s an error that will be corrected in future editions and Governor Noem herself says that she wasn’t aware of it until it was brought to her attention. The difficulty with that explanation is she initially claimed to have written the book herself and she herself read the book aloud for the audio version that is the companion to the paper copy.
The Governor has been doing national press both to promote the book and to do damage control. Political observers across party lines agree Noem has ruined her chances to be Donald Trump’s Vice Presidential nominee while even Steve Bannon and Eric Trump have been public in their criticisms.
