MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Homebuyers entering the Mitchell real estate market this August are seeing fewer homes available and properties spending less time on the market compared with a year earlier, according to the latest monthly housing data from Realtor.com.

Realtor.com’s latest full monthly report, covering June 2026, put Mitchell’s median listing price at $320,000, down 3.92% from a year earlier. The median listing price per square foot was $205, up 10.49% year over year.

Inventory remained tight. Realtor.com reported 69 homes for sale in Mitchell during June, a 37.17% decrease from the previous year and a 30.39% decline from the previous month.

Homes also moved more quickly. The median time on the market was 56 days, down 17.39% from a year earlier and 5% from the previous month.

Realtor.com characterized Mitchell as a buyer’s market in June, meaning housing supply was greater than buyer demand. Homes sold for approximately their asking price on average during the month.

For buyers and sellers considering a move in August, the numbers point to a Mitchell housing market with lower inventory and faster turnover than a year ago, while the median asking price remains slightly below its year-ago level.
