Recently, a Sioux Falls woman was scammed out of $58,000 because she was led to believe she was about to be indicted for money laundering. Identify theft and other cybercrimes are on the rise as technology opens the door to innovative types of illegal activity.
Dakota State University will break ground in Sioux Falls for an Applied Research Lab with construction to begin in the summer of 2024. Eventually the facility will employ 400 cyber researchers dedicated to protecting privacy and personal data, attempting to thwart cyber threats by foreign powers and assisting in the fight against cybercrime.
