PIERRE S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe (FSST) is moving to ban Gov. Kristi Noem from their reservation. This act makes the FSST the eighth tribal nation in the state to ban the governor. All nine tribes have now publicly called for bans. The Standing Rock Sioux, Cheyenne River Sioux, Oglala Lakota Sioux, Rosebud Sioux, Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux, Lower Brule and Crow Creek tribes have all previously moved to ban Noem, while a committee within the Yankton Sioux Tribe has voted in favor of banning the governor on their land, according to a statement released by President Tony Reider.
Native-American reservations encompass roughly 5 million acres or about 12% of the land mass of South Dakota. Pine Ridge is the largest reservation with approximately 2.1 million acres within its jurisdiction.
