Both the mayor’s race and the lake ballot issue are within the margin that could trigger a recount of the election results.

Mayor-elect Jordan Hanson said he is “super excited” at being elected mayor and he expressed gratitude for the community’s confidence and support.  Hanson indicated his two immediate priorities upon taking office in July are to sell out the Scotty McCreery concert both to demonstrate Mitchell is a premier place for events to the area public as well as to show entertainers that the Corn Palace is worth them taking the time to stop and perform here on their touring schedules.

The second priority is to meet with as many city employees as quickly as possible to gauge their job satisfaction, to pick their brains about what Mitchell could be doing better in terms of the type and delivery of services as well as to establish rapport for future cooperation down the road on projects the city may undertake in the future.
